R Kelly has been on many people minds following the premiere of the explosive new docuseries Surviving R Kelly , which explores the various sexual assault allegations against the singer.

The series features over fifty interviews, many of them with the musician alleged victims, and has sparked a massive global campaign to boycott the singer’s music. But since the series debut, R Kelly streaming numbers increased by 16% on Spotify, Blast reports.

Following the global outcry, popular SABC radio station Metro FM asked its listeners on Twitter whether it should boycott the artist and many supported the idea.

“Should we stop playing R Kellys music after the watching #SurvivingRKelly documentary? What are you thoughts? [sic],” the station asked."Should we stop playing R Kelly Songs after the watching #SurvivingRKelly documentary"

SABC spokesperson Neo Momodu tells DRUM they have noted the public outcry surrounding R Kelly and are considering their options.

"We have noted media reports and public campaigns calling on the muting and banning of R Kelly music following allegations of sexual abuse. The SABC is considering its options and will communicate its decision should the need arise in due course," she says.

Mean while several celebrities, including Pearl Thusi and Jada Pinkett Smith, have lent their support to a boycott of the 52-year-old R&B singer music.
